Cub Camp

The Cubs had beautiful weather for their camp at Cotter Reserve (23-24 August).  Apart from an over-supply of lettuce (“They’re cubs not rabbits!” the caterer was told) it was a terrific weekend, centred around a pleasant hike along the Discovery Trail to the Cotter Dam lookout.  Thanks to our leaders and helpers for making it such a fun weekend.

Community Support Grants

Delighted to be the recipient of a Canberra Southern Cross Club Community Support Grant at a grants award lunch today. A total of $130 000 was dispersed among 75 deserving community organisations. Jackie and Kate received a cheque for $2000 from Chief Minister Katy Gallagher. This is flagged for installation of a new window for the Ven Den.

Grant for Ven Den

Kama has been awarded a $2,000 grant from the Canberra Southern Cross Club community support fund.  This will be matched with funds from the parent committee to install a window into the Venturer Den.  Thank you Brian (Skip) for writing the grant application, and thanks to CSCC. 😃

Meritorious Service Award for Eccles

Congratulations to our long-serving, highly-esteemed Scout Leader, now Venturer Leader, Eccles who was acknowledged with a Meritorious Service Award in the annual scouting awards.  Jerry was jointly nominated by a family and the Group Leader for his outstanding contribution to the personal growth of youth members, his good humoured, creative, well-run scouting programmes, his great communication with youth and adults and his infectious enthusiasm for seeking out and delivering new and fun scouting experiences.  Jerry’s award was presented at a ceremony on 28 August at the Woden Southern Cross Club.
