Kama Scout Group is a vibrant group active in many fields of scouting. We offer scout programs for Joeys, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers. Our leaders are keen, friendly, talented people whose interests and abilities cover a wide scope of useful skills including hiking, camping, skiing, caving, archery, canoeing/kayaking, land-care, construction and more. We participate in exciting branch and national events such as Cuborees, Jamborees and Venturers, and international scouting opportunities are regularly available. In addition we generate a great range of programs in-house for Kama youth.

Whilst the weather was less than perfect, our Cubs had a great camp at Nelligan. The highlights were Special K’s Banana Bread and gold-panning at Old Mogo Town. A great support team of parents and leaders saw everything run smoothly. What a year 2014 has been in our Cub Section: three great camps (Cuboree, Cotter and Nelligan) along with a cracking range of activities in between.
And updating this post… this afternoon we had our traditional afternoon tea at the Kama Hall, attended by Simone’s friends and family and leaders past and present. A great way to round out acknowledgement of Simone’s QS achievement, and her time as a scouting youth. All the best for what comes next in your life Simone!
Great night last night for Kestrel, Eccles and Micko: present with Simone Forostenko, her family, and other impressive young people receiving their Queen’s Scout and Baden Powell Awards, the pinnacle awards of scouting. Congratulations Simone.
Here are the K2 Venturers settling in at the Canberra Community Sleepout at AIS Arena tonight. Funds pledged in support are now approaching $1100. Well done K2 and Hubbo! If you’d like to donate to this worthy cause, go here: http://sleepout2014.gofundraise.com.au/page/K2.
A big group (36 cubs, scouts and leaders) spent the afternoon at Canberra Airport to enjoy a joy flight over Canberra with the extraordinary team from the NSW Scouts Air Activities Centre (based at Camden). I could not be more proud of the patience and behaviour of our Kama youth. It was a long wait for everyone’s turn to come around. But worth it! More pictures on the Friends of Kama Facebook page.
